Technical Report No. 3 24 March 1999 PROJECT: EVALUATION OF FIRE RETARDANT PROPERTIES OF FLAME n' AQUA SHIELD SUBJECT: STANDARD TEST METHOD FOR FIRE TESTS OF ROOF COVERINGS (ASTM E108-91a)
Conditions of Classification (Class C) At no time during or after the intermittent flame, spread of flame, or burning brand tests shall: - any portion of the roof covering material be blown or fall off the test deck in form of flaming or glowing brands that continue to glow after reaching the floor, or - the roof deck be exposed or portions of the roof deck fall away in the form of particles that continue to glow after reaching the floor or sustained flaming of the underside of the deck. - the flaming shall not spread beyond 13 ft. and there shall be no significant lateral spread of flame from the path directly exposed to the test flame. Comments - Material Tested: Class 1 Taper Sawn Cedar Shingles installed on a 1.17 m. x 1.07 m. deck - Type of Treatment: Shingles dipped in FAS Formula 103BR for 4 hours, Air cured < 1 week, Rain tested for 12 weeks - Date Test Panel Constucted and Treated: 98-06-22 ; Date Fire Tested: 98-12-08 - Test Method Used: Modified ASTM E108 - 91a (Ref. AGRA Report VA-4263, Section 3.0) * Three small holes burnt through (4mm - 6mm) |
